Why Two-Phase Billing Matters for AI Video Creators

Phase 1 at /new (script + voiceover). Phase 2 at render (visuals). Creators never get double-charged.

Why Two-Phase Billing Matters for AI Video Creators

What is Two-Phase Billing?

Two-phase billing is a unique feature of FacelessOS designed to streamline the video creation process for creators by allowing them to separate costs into two distinct phases. This setup gives creators the flexibility to iterate on their scripts and audio without incurring costs until they’re satisfied with the results. In Phase 1, when you generate a script and TTS (text-to-speech) narration, you only pay for successful outputs. Phase 2 kicks in when you click Render for visuals, ensuring that you only pay for what meets your standards.

This model is particularly beneficial because it acknowledges the often iterative nature of content creation. Creators can refine their scripts and audio before moving on to visuals, which is crucial in maintaining creative control and budget efficiency. With credit-based pricing, you can predict your costs more accurately and manage your resources better throughout the production process.

How it works

Using Two-phase billing is straightforward. When you begin a new project at /new, you generate your script with Groq (free) or GPT-4o, and then proceed to create a voiceover using either OpenAI or ElevenLabs. If you decide that a script or voiceover doesn’t meet your expectations, there are no charges for unsuccessful attempts. This means you can iterate on your script as many times as necessary before committing to audio production.

Once you’re satisfied with your script and voiceover, you move to the render phase. Here, you can choose to add visuals, either through AI-generated images or stock footage. The costs in this phase are only incurred for the successful images or footage you select, allowing you to have a clear understanding of your expenditure. This is complemented by the pause-after-script gate, which defaults to ON, ensuring that you can always preview your script before moving to audio.

When to use it

Two-phase billing is particularly valuable for several channel types and scenarios, including:

While there are no specific channel recipes that feature this prominently, the flexibility it offers can enhance the quality of content across various genres.

How FacelessOS does this differently

Many video creation tools charge creators upfront on a single click, often without the option for refunds on failed runs. In contrast, FacelessOS employs a gated billing system that allows creators to pay only for successful outputs in both phases of production. This approach means that you’re never double-charged, and it offers a level of financial predictability that is often missing in competitor platforms. By separating script and visual costs, you can manage your budget more effectively and focus on producing high-quality content without the fear of wasted expenses.
